Obituary of Beulah L. Fernandes
Beulah L. Fernandes, 90, formerly of Adams and Brownville, died November 30, 2017, at the home of her daughter Ruth Allen, in Lawton, OK where she had lived since 2005.
There will be a funeral mass at Saint Cecilia’s Church, Adams, at 10:30 am on Wednesday December 6, with Rev. Martin Cline officiating. Burial will follow in the Saint Cecilia’s Cemetery, Henderson.
Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams.
Born July 2, 1927 in Worth, daughter of John and Bessie (Weaver) O’Connor, she graduated from Adams Center High School.
She worked at M.H. Fishman Department Store in Watertown, Saint Cecilia’s Catholic Church Rectory, Adams and as a housekeeper at Immaculate Conception Church Rectory, Brownville. She was also companion to Mrs. Clover Boldt Baird in Alexandria Bay for several years before retiring.
A marriage to Charles Fernandes of Copenhagen on January 28, 1951 later ended in divorce.
Surviving are three sons Charles (Jane) Fernandes, Adams, NY; Ronald Fernandes, FL, Thomas (Barbara) Fernandes, Prospect, NY; two daughters Catherine (Lynn) Nuffer, Castorland, NY; Ruth (Blake) Allen, Lawton, OK; fourteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; two sisters Carrie Kenney, Henderson, Patricia Ashford, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by a daughter Diane Fernandes who died in 2012; five brothers Thomas, Donald, David, James and William O’Connor; and six sisters Gladys Bill, Alice Johansen, Edna Thibodeau, Mary O’Connor, Bernice Russell and Gertrude Hinman.
Beulah was a Communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, Brownville, and a former Communicant of Saint Cecilia’s Church and OES, Adams Center, the Busy B G’s, Brownville.
She enjoyed flower gardening.
