Obituary of Juanita V. Hanson

Juanita V. Hanson, 89, of Lorraine, passed away peacefully at home with family at her side, Sunday, July 22, 2018. Visiting hours will be Wednesday 6-8 pm at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams. Her funeral service will be Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Lyman Cemetery, Lorraine.

Mrs. Hanson is survived by her children Brenda (William) Draper, Lorraine, David D. Hanson, Lorraine, Doreen (Richard) Eselin, Dexter, Deborah Hanson, Ketchikan, AK., Cynthia (Ethan) Stewart, Belleville, Karen (Robert) Dusek, Prattsburgh and Donny Hanson and his fiancé Jody Predmore, Lorraine, 9 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister Mrs. Judith Ashley, Ogdensburg and nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by a brother Dorland (Bud) McEwen and four sisters Ivah (Trombley) Polniak, Oeleta Strader, Theresa Foster, Sylvia (Empey) Lalumiere, a daughter Donna and a grandson Mark Draper. 

Mrs. Hanson was born March 26, 1929 in the Town of Parishville daughter of Ansel and Goldie Foster McEwen.  She attended school in Pickettville, Camden and Utica. She worked as a waitress in Potsdam and as a cook in her father’s logging camps.  

On July 15, 1950 she married Donald W. Hanson. The couple lived in Harrisville for two years. In 1952 they moved to the present home where they operated a farm. Mr. Hanson retired in October, 1988 and died February 19, 1998.

Mrs. Hanson was a member of the Lorraine United Methodist Church and a member of the church’s Wednesday Club.
