Obituary of Dian M. Roberts
Dian "Dede" M. Roberts, 61, of Adams, died Saturday November 21, 2020 at her home. Calling hours will be 4:00-7:00 pm Tuesday at the Piddock Funeral Home Inc, Adams, NY. Burial will be private in the North Watertown Cemetery, Watertown.
Born July 31, 1959 in Glens Falls, NY, daughter of J. Lee and Barbara (Hall) Flynn, she graduated from South Jefferson Central School in 1977.
She attended Jefferson Community College, then to Syracuse University where she did her undergraduate work, earning a degree in Social Work. She continued on at Syracuse University where she received her Masters degree in Social Work and later returned to Syracuse University earning another Masters degree in Guidance Counseling.
Dede worked at South Jefferson Central School as a social worker, then at Planned Parenthood in Watertown and in 2002 went to work at Mexico Academy & Central School as a social worker retiring after seventeen years in 2019.
She married Jeffrey C. Roberts of Adams on September 21, 2002. The couple lived all their married life in Adams. Mr. Roberts died August 31, 2018.
She is survived by her mother Barbara Flynn, Indian Lake, NY; two sons Michael J. Beckstead and Jamie L. (Kelly) Beckstead, both of Adams; two grandsons Dylan Beckstead and Ian Beckstead; two granddaughters Chloe Beckstead and Zoe Beckstead; one great granddaughter Baylee Beckstead; two step sons Gavin (Jamie) Roberts and Kyle (Brittany) Roberts, both of Adams Center; several step grandchildren; one brother Shawn Flynn, Indian Lake; two sisters Dawn Flynn and Dedra Flynn, both of Weybridge, VT; and two nieces, Kaitlyn Backus and Courtney Backus; and several step-nephews and nieces.
Besides her husband, she is predeceased by her father J. Lee Flynn who died September 28, 2014.
Dede enjoyed outside gardening and lawn work, Christian music, playing the piano and organ, and most of all being with her family.
She was a member of the Adams Village Baptist Church and was organist for many years there, as well as the Rodman Community Church.
