Obituary of Thomas E. Clark

Adams Center, NY - Thomas Elroy Preston Clark, 70, of Adams Center, NY died Monday, September 13th, 2021 at Samaritan Medical Center where he passed suddenly.   Born March 16, 1951 in Liberty, NY, he was a son of Elroy and Marie (Miller) Clark. He graduated from Liberty Central High School in 1969 and attended Sullivan Community College until 1971.  He continued to live in Liberty until 1989 when he moved with his family to their current location in Adams Center.   He began working at the age of 10 as a paperboy in Liberty.  At the age of 12, Tom worked at Sullivan County Golf Course as a caddy.  He then worked at his parent's custard stand and then his parent's taxi business, Friendly's Taxi Service, in Liberty until taking over the taxi business for two years after college.  He left the taxi business to work at Dalton's Garage as a Service Manager for 6 years before entering the NYS Dept. of Corrections in 1978.  He spent 11 years as an officer at Eastern CF and Sullivan CF before moving to Watertown CF and becoming Sergeant.  He was an Employee Assistance Coordinator for 5 years where he enjoyed helping employees and their families.  He retired from Watertown Correctional Facility after 26 proud years of service.   Tom is survived by his wife of 50 years Barbara (Vorisek) Clark, Adams Center; two sons, Timothy (Nickol) of Adams Center and Dustin (Erin) of Adams Center; four grandchildren Kaylee and Adreana (Dustin & Erin), Isabella and Preston (Tim & Nickol); a brother Dan (Sue) Clark, Liberty; a sister Beverly O'Hearn Dill, Liberty; and six nieces. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Elroy and Marie, and a nephew, Brandon Lewis.   Tom was an avid NY Yankees fan, never missing a game on TV.  He enjoyed company dearly and never turned down an opportunity to talk to an old friend.  He spent countless hours with sons, Tim and Dustin, woodworking in the basement.  He managed several gardens on the property.  He enjoyed fishing of all varieties owning several small boats over his life.  He was an avid hunter in his younger years "chasing down deer" in Liberty before moving to Adams Center where he hunted his property with his sons Tim and Dustin, and many friends.  He was a member of the Liberty Elks, Sons of the American Legion in Sackets Harbor, and the Liberty Republican Committee.     Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle and would give anything to family and friends.  He was so proud of his sons and grandkids and let them know often how proud he was.  He was cherished by all that knew him for his kindness, unconditional love and warmth.     Per Tom's wishes, there will be no services at this time.   In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at http://www.lls.org or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at www.jdrf.org.
