Obituary
Obituary of Beverly Walker Williams
Beverly Walker Williams, 76 years old, of Adams, left us to return to our Heavenly Father on Friday, October 21, 2022. She suffered complications associated with a fall, and despite her best efforts to recover, she succumbed to her condition while being expertly cared for by the staff of Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, in Ogdensburg, New York.
The only daughter of Jeanne Marshall Gamble and Reverend Roland Lenwood Walker, Sr., Beverly was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 11, 1946, and dedicated her life to the service of others. From a family of our Lord’s servants, she received her bachelor's degree from the Asbury Theological Seminary and went on to pursue a master’s degree from Scarritt College for Christian Workers. She sought to teach those who would receive the Word of God, as the Director of Christian Education at Cherrydale United Methodist Church, in Arlington, Virginia, and subsequently at Saint George’s United Methodist Church, in Fairfax, Virginia.
Beverly raised a son, instilled her values in him, and thus went on to serve an even larger number of God’s children. Though she no longer walks among us, she continues in this role today as her son cares for thousands of our friends and family through his work as a physician. Her impact on the lives of others can no longer be adequately measured.
She is survived by her ever-loving husband of nearly 50 years, Francis Ken Williams, her son Peter Francis Williams, her daughter-in-law Laura Mae Williams, her brothers Reverend Roland Lenwood Walker, Jr. and Robert Wesley Walker, and sisters-in-law Marilynn McCollum Walker and Debbie Smith Walker. Nieces, nephews, cousins, and family across the miles are touched by her loss, as are the friends and neighbors that have been in her company.
Beverly spent her final years as a dedicated parishioner of the Adams Village Baptist Church, in Adams, New York, where she will ever dwell in the heart of her church family. A service is planned at the same location at 12:00 pm on November 7, 2022, so that we may celebrate her life and her reunification with our Heavenly Father. Burial will immediately follow in the Union Cemetery, Adams Center. Calling hours, beginning at 10:00 am, will precede the funeral service.
Tributes in her honor would be welcome to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023 or online at www.diabetes.org .
Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home Inc, Adams, New York.
