Obituary of Alice L. Spearance

Alice L. Spearance, 90, formerly of Adams Center, died Thursday December 21, 2023 at the Sunset Nursing Home in Boonville, NY. A graveside service in the Union Cemetery, Adams Center, will be held in the spring of 2024. Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home Inc, Adams, NY. Alice was born April 28, 1933 in Adams Center, daughter of Arthur L. and Esther (Case) Green. She attended Adams Center Central School. She married Lawrence E. Spearance of Adams Center on July 24, 1950 at the home of her parents, with Rev. Bernard Schell officiating. The couple lived in Adams Center, Pierrepont Manor, Waddington and then back to Adams Center in 1952. Mr. Spearance died March 19, 1987. Alice worked at G.T. Lanning in Watertown for a few years, then began working in the cafeteria for the South Jefferson School District, primarily in the Wilson Building. She retired in 1992. She moved to Country View Apartments in Adams in 1996, and later to the Sunset Nursing Home in Boonville in 2020. She is survived by two sons, Lawrence A. Spearance, Norfolk, VA, Patrick Brown, Clayton, NY; one daughter Elaine (Paul) Aldous, Raquette Lake, NY; four grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brother James Wheeler. Alice was a member of the Adams Center Fire Department Auxiliary and the State Food Service Association.
