Obituary of Kenneth E. Hodkinson

Kenneth E. Hodkinson, 99, of Rodman, died peacefully at his home Wednesday August 14, 2024, where he had been under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County. Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home Inc, Adams, NY. Born on January 17, 1925 in Barnes Corners, he was a son of George and Dorothy (Spencer) Hodkinson. He married Evelyn Marriott on October 20, 1947 in Copenhagen, NY. The couple were married for 43 years and lived first in Lowville, then moved to Rodman. Kenneth worked for Nortz and Virkler in Lowville, KB Motors in Adams, and later retired from the Town of Rodman in 1987. He was a volunteer fireman for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his four-wheeler and snowmobile, gatherings at his camp, restoring his 1947 pickup, as well as helping his family and friends with their mechanic repairs. Kenneth is survived by one son Kenneth Jr. (Mison) Hodkinson, Massachusetts; one daughter Marilyn (Fred) Poole, Lacona; seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Evelyn who passed away on April 10, 1990; a daughter Evelyn Jane Parish, three brothers Robert, Donald and Louis; five sisters Monica Smith, Margaret Chambers, Gertrude McDonald, Catherine Collins and Elizabeth (Betty) Turner. At his request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside ceremony will be held Thursday August 22 at 11:00 am in the Fairview Cemetery, Rodman, NY, followed by a meal at the Rodman Fire Barn.
